CSS MELBOURNE & SYDNEY SIDESHOWS ANNOUNCED!

Css_logo

Future Entertainment is proud to announce electro/indie/rock icons CSS, performing solo shows in Melbourne and Sydney as part of the Future Music Festival Tour.

Bursting out of São Paulo in 2003, CSS is a group of friends with an unquenchable thirst for good times and indulgence in all things pop and art. Dropping in 2006, their debut album ‘Cansei de Ser Sexy’ served up danceable electro/rock songs littered with pop culture and sexual references.

Easily translating to live audiences, they quickly became one of the most in-demand live acts from Europe to Japan. Equal parts dance party, urban circus, and complete chaos, the band’s unaffected, unbridled joy when performing is their trademark! A tough, street-ready recreation of the frenetic energy of their live shows, their latest album ‘Donkey’ is summer’s ultimate ride … don’t miss out on this unique and captivating solo show.

'GREAT ESCAPE' BY THE RIFLES OUT 31ST OF JAN TRHOUGH RYKO/STOMP

Logo

The Rifles burst onto the music scene two years ago with the rebellious and attitude laden debut No Love Lost, an album revealing the hopes and dreams of working-class suburban drudgery. However when the media BIZARRELY ignored the quartet, they hit the road to broaden their fan base.

It's now round two for The Rifles and with some enormo-anthems, Great Escape is a soaring indie mission statement, designed to catapult them up the music ladder to their rightful place of music colossus. With Jan 'Stan' Kybert (Paul Weller, Oasis, Bjork) on production duties, singer Joel Stoker, guitarist Luke Crowther, bassist Rob Pyne, and drummer Grant Marsh have been guided to a place of musical maturity. From opener 'Silence in Violence' to closer 'For the Meantime', The Rifles demonstrate a significant, even audacious, gear change.

With stunningly crafted radio-friendly riffs and unforgettable melodies, everything that was great about their first album has been magnified. Highlights include the ready-made indie hits 'Great Escape' and 'Fall To Sorrow' will place the band firmly in the hearts of misguided teens across the nation.

With sold-out shows across the UK and a growing fan base internationally, Great Escape is an exhilarating sound of a band raising their game for a shot at the big time.

“The first band for ages with a London postcode worth tattooing on your heart” - NME

NEW ALBUM FROM VETIVER CALLED 'TIGHT KNIT'- OUT FEB 21ST

Tightknight_packshot

Tight Knit is the fourth full-length album from Vetiver, singer/songwriter Andy Cabic’s ever-evolving musical home base. Luminous and surprising, Tight Knit unfolds like a road trip through the Appalachian Mountains of Cabic’s native Virginia. It represents a summation of the different styles and directions heard on past Vetiver releases, while it introduces some unexpected twists.

Recorded in Sacramento at The Hangar and in LA at Melva, Tight Knit was produced by long time Vetiver collaborator Thom Monahan and features Andy Cabic on lead vocals and guitars, guitarist Kevin Barker (aka Currituck Co.), Sanders Trippe on guitar and vocals, drummer Otto Hauser, and bassist Brent Dunn. Special guests include Eric Johnson (of Fruit Bats, The Shins, and an occasional touring member of Vetiver), Jonathan Wilson, “Farmer” Dave Scher, and Adam Peters.

Vetiver’s sound has been described as “dreamy, gentle songs that George Harrison would have written in some sunny country garden.” Happily, that element remains alive and well on Tight Knit, as evidenced in songs like album opener ‘Rolling Sea’ and ‘Everyday’. The album also introduces new aspects of the band’s sound with the light bop of ‘Sister’ and ‘On the Other Side’, and the faraway and ethereal ‘Down from Above’ and ‘At Forest Edge’.

Tight Knit is layered and rich, with subtleties and nuances that reveal themselves with repeated listening. While there’s also more immediate gratification than on past Vetiver releases, Tight Knit is an album that rewards your attention.

Tight Knit is Vetiver’s third release through Stomp Entertainment and their first for Sub Pop.

TELEFON TEL AVIV RELEASE 'IMMOLATE YOURSELF' ON JAN 31ST

Every year an artist emerges from nowhere to release an album that captures the imagination of everyone who hears it, an album that makes you sit up and respect its individuality. It's only the start of the year and that album has already arrived……

Telefon Tel Aviv is Joshua Eustis and Charles Cooper, two Chicago based boys. They have already proved their talent successfully on two previously released albums, "Fahrenheit Fair Enough" (2001) and "Map of Effortless" (2004). Immolate Yourself unites ten tracks with the aim to give the term "electro pop", a new definition for the year 2009. Don't believe us? Ask Berlin techno princess Ellen Alien who has signed their latest to her very cool B-Pitch Control label.

Sitting somewhere comfortable between electronica and mainstream pop, Telefon Tel Aviv pays homage to the 80's via some heavy Depeche Mode inspired synth action and some early U2 reverb and delay. Arguably the album's standout track "Helen of Troy" has already been described by one reviewer as sounding like The Killers teaming up with A-Ha, while closer to home comparisons can be made to The Midnight Juggernauts. Last year Sasha liked their "You are the Worst.... " track so much that he commissioned it to be the opening track of his highly regarded Involver 2 mix. Although each track has its own story to tell, together they paint a bigger picture that encapsulates the Telefon Tel Aviv sound.

2009 will definitely be the year of Telefon Tel Aviv and they have caught the attention of everyone in the know with their haunting melodies and intricate 80's pop sensibilities. Telefon Tel Aviv is setting a statement that combines popular tendencies with their own reflections about the electronic sound universe. Get engaged……..

Out through B-Pitch/Stomp.

THE RED SHORE TO TOUR 'UNCONSECRATED'

RS_resizedAfter releasing one of the most anticipated debut full lengths ever in Australian metal, The Red Shore has forged a passionate following almost unheard of so early.  Rather than relying on meticulously edited recordings to do all their talking, they've paid their dues and shed the sweat to unleash a touring beast on an unsuspecting country, with each show plunging shockwaves though the underground scene. The Red Shore have taken what was once considered the utmost in extremes, and wound the crank, with faster and more caustic technical guitar work, and even heavier cataclysmic breakdowns.  Instead of merely riding the genre's worldwide surge in popularity, The Red Shore has continued to stay ahead of the pack, inspiring numerous imitations in their wake.

Already touring with Australia's hardcore heavyweights and joining Job for A Cowboy and All Shall Perish on their tours Down Under, The Red Shore has simultaneously achieved a level of prowess that sees them somehow enchant the death metal faithful and newcomers alike, which as anyone involved knows, is no mean feat.

Those who have already witnessed them live know what the world has coming with the imminent release of "Unconsecrated" and those who haven't are about to find out.  This Summer The Red Shore, along with special guests Antagonist A.D (NZ), As Blood Runs Black (US) & Before the Throne, will be tearing up a town near you. Please look out for Perth dates coming soon.

Deez Nuts 09This Summer DEEZ NUTS, along with special guest Louie Knuxx, will be hitting up Australia’s East and West coasts on the ‘Stay True’ tour. West coast dates to be announced.

DEEZ NUTS is the brainchild of ex I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN founding member JJ Peters. A one-man musical assault DEEZ NUTS are hell bent on delivering hardcore driven party anthems laced with a tongue in cheek rap ethic of just not giving a f&#k to the masses. With the overwhelmingly positive response to the DEEZ NUTS debut EP 'Rep Your Hood' and extensive domestic & international touring, everything was aligned for the release of the highly anticipated full length 'Stay True' in Oct 2008.

JJ has also tipped his flat brimmed hat to the mighty Beastie Boys with a crushing cover of "Fight For Your Right". ROGER SANCHEZ TO RELEASE RENAISSANCE 3D ON THE 31ST OF JAN - OUT THROUGH RENAISSANCE/STOMP

renaissance3D_packshotIn a day and age where mix compilations are a dime a dozen, Renaissance decided that something needed to be done to set them apart - welcome the 3D concept. The idea is simple….get an established and respected dj/producer to mix three discs: Club, Studio and Home, each depicting a different side of the artists' musical repertoire. Following up the highly acclaimed releases by Satoshi Tomiie , Faithless and Tom Middleton, the legendary Roger Sanchez steps up to the plate giving us a rare insight across the spectrum of his musical life.

Whether it’s hosting and playing legendary 7/8 hour sets at his ‘Release Yourself’ parties in Pacha, Ibiza and around the world; compiling and mixing an annual compilation of the same name, or producing as himself or the S-Man, there’s no question Roger Sanchez is one of house music’s most revered ambassadors.

Aside from running his own label (Stealth), supporting house from the ground-roots up, Roger has also found time to remix some of the world’s best artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Jamiroquai, Alicia Keys, Daft Punk and many, many more… Put simply, the S-Man was tailor-made for 3D!

"This is the first compilation outside of my own 'Release Yourself' series I've done in a long time, and I was excited by the opportunity to do something different, as presented by the Renaissance 3D mix. I feel this captures the essence of the many different vibes I have, be it on the dance floor, in the studio or at home.” – Roger Sanchez

We first catch-up with Roger in the club for a current snapshot of his live club sets, drawing on friends and producers such as India, D.O.N.S., Outwork, Wally Lopez, Hatiras and Richard Grey. The result is archetypal Sanchez, a heady mix of soul, funk and electro.

As we follow him to the studio, Roger presents his seminal remix of the legend that was Barry White alongside key favourites such as Carl Kennedy, Artificial Funk and A Tribe Called Es. The rest of the disc accurately portrays his incredibly prolific studio output, fittingly spear-headed by his crossover smash ‘Another Chance’.

Finally, Roger takes us home for an eclectic musical travelogue that begins on the tranquil shores of Ibiza with Afterlife’s ‘Clear Blue Sky’; jumps across Europe to enjoy the cream of Britain’s electronic artists, Massive Attack and Finlay Quaye and, later, looks a little closer to his Manhattan home by way of Black Science Orchestra’s ‘New Jersey Deep’. He adopts some Gallic charm via Daft Punk before winding things-up in true festival mosh-pit style with the Klaxons seminal ‘Not Over’ cover.

Crazy P (previously infamously known as Crazy Penis) has never been a band swayed by the latest trends. They’ve stuck to their guns and let the world catch up with their unique sound. They are undeniably DISCO and have unintentionally found themselves part of the recent renaissance that has crossed the Atlantic from New York City. They now sit alongside Hercules & Love Affair and Escort as a band that can cut it live.

Crazy P is the band that gets the party started (surviving sound failures, streaking naked across festival campsites and winding up at numerous after-parties) with headline performances at The Playgrounder Weekender, The Big Chill, Good Vibrations in Sydney, The Sydney Festival, Dance Village at Glastonbury, The Garden Festival in Croatia, plus also having supported Faithless in 2005.

Crazy P’s pedigree as recording artists is clearly documented by three superb previous albums - their first two classics ‘A Nice Hot Bath With’ and ‘The Wicked Is Music’ on Paper Recordings and their album ‘Night on Earth’ on Shiva, which sold over 20,000 copies.

The latter proved to be a massive step up for the band, making them bona fide stars in Australia, New Zealand and the UK as well as cementing their reputation as highly respected songwriters. Pete Tong became a huge fan and rotated the singles constantly on Radio One and invited the band to record a live session in the Maida Vale Studios. Singles 'Sun Science' and ‘Lady T’ went on to become Ibizan sunset and festival classics and found their way into countless compilations.

Crazy P's latest offering Stop Space Return, spawning from Ralph Lawson’s funk laced house label 20:20 Vision Recordings captures the sound of a band at their peak and effortlessly blends their influences of classic NYC House, 70's funk & disco, soul instrumentation, pop melodies, electronica and sun kissed beats to delicious effect.

Check out their fresh material up front and load on the Crazy P national tour.
