THE GUTTER TWINS ANNOUNCED FOR SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS!

Comprised of what Pitchforkmedia.com proclaims are “two of alt-rock’s greatest front-men", The Gutter Twins will deliver their first Australian performance at this years' Splendour In The Grass festival!

The Gutter Twins is a collaboration forged in late 2003 by Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, Queens Of The Stone Age) and maverick singer-songwriter Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs, Twilight Singers), their debut album Saturnalia was released through Sub Pop / Stomp in 2008. Saturnalia finds the pair going deeper into the shadows than they ever have before with their past projects. The albums eerie modal swirls trap the listener in each song’s atmosphere; simultaneously evoking everything from Indian sitars to Appalachian folk and Delta grit, the drones inadvertently create narcotic hooks.

Guitarist/singer Dave Rosser will perform with the duo during the upcoming show, his indispensible talent was a key ingredient to the success of all of the previous shows. The three artists share a rare camaraderie on stage together. “It was such an exciting and intimate experience playing our songs this way that we jumped at the chance to run it back,” commented Dulli, “It's a pleasure to be asked to reprise the show".

IRON & WINE RELEASES 'AROUND THE WELL' , A COLLECTION OF SONGS THIS MAY.

Sam Beam Collecting songs ranging from out-of-print to never-before-released, Around the Well spans Iron and Wine’s earliest sessions which yielded the band’s 2002 debut The Creek Drank the Cradle through material recorded for 2007’s The Shepherd’s Dog. The double-disc collection is broken up into two sections; the first half is an assortment of hushed home recordings, unedited and raw, and the second highlights moments captured in the confines of proper studios with the help of other musicians, friends and engineers.

The album’s title comes from a line in the song “The Trapeze Swinger,” a fan favourite which was written for and included in the movie In Good Company. Three more songs written and recorded for the film finally make their appearance here as well: “Belated Promise Ring,” “God Made the Automobile” and “Homeward, These Shoes.” Around the Well also brings together hard-to-find covers such as The Flaming Lips’ “Waitin’ for a Superman” and New Order’s “Love Vigilantes,” along with one of Iron and Wine’s earliest originals, “Sacred Vision.”

Iron and Wine have begun work on the follow-up to The Shepherd’s Dog and plan to release a new album in Northern Hempisphere's Spring, 2010.

KRIS MENACE OF 'DISCOPOLIS' FAME SET TO RELEASE HIS DEBUT ALBUM THIS MAY.

Pete Tong, Erol Alkan and Laurent Garnier are all massive fans. Primal Scream cohort and ex Sabre member Jagz Kooner wants to work with him. His remixed the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Moby, Underworld, Air, Metronomoy and Robbie Williams. Welcome to the world of Kris Menace, a man who is fast becoming known as one of the most respected producers and remixer’s on the planet.

Famed for his Italo disco-inspired tracks, Menace’s debut single ‘Discopolis’ became one of the biggest dance tunes of 2005, a bona fide Ibiza anthem that got picked up by Defected Records and helped lay the groundwork for Kris to become one of the hottest names in the scene.

Kris launched the label Compuphonic as a vehicle for his own productions and with this Menace’s popularity continued to grow with tracks such as ‘Voyage’, ‘Fairlight’, ‘Steamroller’ and ‘Jupiter’ - the latter becoming one of Beatport’s biggest downloads in 2006. He also began DJing with friend and legendary producer in his own right Alan Braxe, leading to the collaboration single ‘Lumberjack’ released on Vulture Music in June 2007 (featured on this release). Kris is also the label owner of house label Work It Baby where he has nurtured the careers of Fred Falke, Patrick Alavi, Lifelike and Serge Santiago.

2009 looks set to be Menace’s biggest year to date, starting with the release of his debut album, Idiosyncrasies. A triple disc collection of classic tracks interspersed with fresh new productions, collaborations and remixes; this release single-handedly proves a capsule-like answer why Menace has made such a big impact in the electronic scene to date.

NEW RED SHORE TRACK 'PULLING TEETH' ONLINE NOW

The Red Shore revisit their past on forthcoming release 'Lost Verses' out May 2009 on Stomp Entertainment. 'Pulling Teeth' taken from the forthcoming release is now online!!

Redshore_PT_apr09  LISTEN HERE

After the triumphant release of last years stunning CD/DVD 'Unconsecrated' The Red Shore now find themselves looking to their past to light the way forward. With little down time in-between tours The Red Shore decided to spend theirs jamming on songs from their past and the outcome was just too inspiring to go undocumented.  'Lost Verses' is more than a trip down memory lane for the Melbourne based extreme metal crew, its honouring their fallen brothers, celebrating their early works and most importantly, its The Red Shore regrouping and having fun doing what they do best...shredding, grinding and pummelling your senses with a sonic assault of biblical proportions.

'Lost Verses' was recorded & mixed on the fly by guitarist Roman Koester at Complex Studios and while this was not meant to be anything more than the band jamming on some old tunes for fun..... the result is nothing short of jaw dropping.

EARTH CRISIS & DAY OF CONTEMPT AUSTRALIAN TOUR JUNE!!!

STOMP TOURING & BLUNT MAGAZINE PRESENT:

EARTHCRISIS_LOGO   dayofcontempt_logo

AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2009

One of the most anticipated and talked about reunions of 2008 was without a doubt the reformation of Syracuse NY-based quintet EARTH CRISIS. The pioneers of the hardcore, straight edge movement have now officially made the decision to carry on with the band fulltime and are proud to announce a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records. The band’s most devastating offering to date, “To The Death”, is going to serve as a much needed wake up call to the masses!

EARTH CRISIS’ chugging riffs and barked declarations served as the mouthpiece of America's militant vegan, straight-edge movement throughout the '90s, detailing the ideas of animal and human liberation, drug-free living, and personal empowerment through hardcore song.

Now, for the first time in Australia, new and old fans alike can witness the reformation of a legend – EARTH CRISIS live, this June.

Joining EARTH CRISIS is Australia’s own hardcore legends, DAY OF CONTEMPT. The first band to bring hardcore to the masses in this country, DAY OF CONTEMPT disbanded in 2005, leaving hoards of fans in their wake. Rumours of a reunion tour have abounded since then, and the calls from fans have finally been answered – DAY OF CONTEMPT reuniting in June for 5 shows only!

AIDEN BACK WITH A NEW ALBUM 'KNIVES' ON MAY 2ND.

Aiden_logoAsk any rock n' roll artist of the 20th century from Jerry Lee Lewis to Glenn Danzig and they'll tell you the latter.  It's that defiant spirit that has fuelled rock 'n' roll since it was coined "the devils music" and it's what catapulted AIDEN into the spotlight since they burst onto the scene in 2005.

With over a quarter of a million records sold world-wide and an army of devoted fans, AIDEN is prepared to unleash their most impressive record to date this Spring.  Knives is guaranteed to be the album that will close this decade off with style and open the floodgates to a whole new chapter for dark defiant rock.

Knives is an absolute adrenalin rush that leaves the listener completely winded and wanting more.  It is a balls-out, hammer to the skull, punk rock.

Check back in the next few weeks for more information regarding this release.

EROL ALKAN & RICHARD NORRIS BRING YOU 'BEYOND THE WIZARD'S SLEEVE'

As producers, Erol Alkan and Richard Norris have achieved more than most producers combined will ever achieve! As the founding members of Nineties act The Grid, Richard Norris knows how to weave magic into melody, while Erol Alkan has been credited as the man who put mash-up into the public consciousness through his now legendary club night Trash at The End. He is also credited with the dubious honor of reviving the second coming of the current French sound doing the rounds through his remix of Justice’s “Waters of Nazareth”.

For more than two years, on the odd nights of the year that he’s not duty bound to be Erol Alkan, he has been known to don the mantle of ‘Mustapha 3000’ and dabble in the mysterious rites of ‘Beyond The Wizards Sleeve – a warped balearic psychedelic brotherhood consisting of Erol and Richard Norris.

Part folk astronauts, part electronic necromancers, they have reanimated songs by Midlake, Findlay Brown, Goldfrapp, Tracey Thorn, Franz Ferdinand, Chemical Brothers and more, into beautiful, searing moments of euphoric bliss. Each remix wildly different to the next, The Sleeve (as they are known to their fans) continue to be impossible to pin down, having recently completed their first major work, a four part series of EP’s.

Whether they are playing the latest in hardcore thrash or producing delicate anthems of spectral beauty, one thing’s for sure; music, truly fertile music, is never very far from The Sleeve, and their sound can surely only continue to grow in the future.

Tracklisting
1. The Chemical Brothers - Battle Scars (Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve Re-Animation)
2. Franz Ferdinand – Ulysses (Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve Re-Animation)
