GROOVE ARMADA'S LATE NIGHT TALES

Groove ArmadaThe Late Night Tales series has been running for over five years, during which time it has firmly established itself as the connoisseur’s choice of mix CD. It grants the world’s best musical artists, including Fatboy Slim, Nouvelle Vague, Belle & Sebastian and Air, the opportunity to delve through their music collections to create the ultimate late night soundtrack. Now reaching the twentieth in the series, Late Night Tales have called back Groove Armada, to celebrate this milestone release.

“There’s an overall theme to this CD. When we were teenagers we were making girlfriends and would-be girlfriends tapes. Now it’s found a new focus because on the tour bus the upstairs lounge is always where the music’s at. It’s really brought back the idea of doing tapes for your mates.”

Much more than just a collection of songs, Groove Armada have painstakingly re-edited and re-sequenced many of the tracks here to create a seamless mix that flows smoothly despite the eclectic selection of tracks.  Every track has a story behind it choosing it, although some are not as hip as others! “To my shame I actually discovered ‘How Long’ was by Ace when I was listening to Magic FM which is my daughter and wife’s favourite radio station so it’s always on in the car. I’d always thought it was by Mike & The Mechanics!”

With the choice of artists moving between the classic to the current Groove Armada display all the musical authority and passion that typifies the Late Night Tales series. This twentieth release is quite possibly the best Late Night Tales yet, with the art of the mixtape in good hands.

Release date for this amazing album is 8th March 2008.

HATE ETERNAL'S FURY

Hate EternalTampa, Florida's very own Hate Eternal is back with the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2005 release ‘I, Monarch’, titled ‘Fury and Flames’. Fury and Flames will be the bands most diverse and emotionally fuelled record to date due mainly in part to the passing of bassist and good friend Jared Anderson.

Hate Eternal founder and vocalist/guitarist Erik Rutan recently did an interview with MTVnews.com where he stated, "Jared was one of my best friends, and his passing away really affected me and influenced this record a lot. It's a very dark and heavy record- not just heavy as in 'heavy metal,' but heavy-hearted as well."

Fury and Flames will feature cover art by Paul Romano (Mastodon, Animosity, The Red Chord) and features the addition of new members Shaune Kelley as second guitarist and Jade Simonetto on drums. The addition of second guitarist Shaune means that this will be the first time Hate Eternal will be able to perform as a four piece live. Something fans will be able to experience on the first tour for Fury and Flames when the band heads out with label-mates The Black Dahlia Murder. Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse stepped in on bass for the recording, but due to his insane schedule with Cannibal will not be able to tour with the band.

Album will be released nationally 18th February 2008.

BLACK SPADE SERVES THE LOVE

Black SpadeArmed with little more than his father’s extensive record collection and a Kurzweil 2000 keyboard, Black Spades new album, 'To Serve With Love' is a melting pot of sounds. His choruses are coated in multi-tracked vocals and are awash with a Prince influence that matches his songs. These influences are exercises in boundary breaking-skipping from the roughshod drums to warm synths Black Spade’s production is full of burbling synths, and off-kilter drums that knock like live instrumentation.

With a sly nod and a bit of reverence to music’s past and present, his sound is still distinctly his own. His voice slides smoothly over his intricate beats, full of compelling stops and starts that are the trademark of the Midwest hip-hop sound.

At his core, Black Spade is a producer who makes music because he loves to. His sounds are grounded in the past while still sounding futuristic, and most importantly it comes from the heart and he just wants you to listen.

Spade says, “To get my music out there to people… at the end of the day that’s what really counts.”

+    “Black Spade gets necks snapping with his throwback-to-the-future beats” – THE FADER

+    “He could quite possibly be what hip hop fans and music lovers in general have been waiting for” – VAPORS

+    “Black Spade’s funky samples grace the speakers oh-so-organically” – URB ‘NEXT 100’

+    "Black Spade is the future of Hip Hop" – Daz-I-Kue (Bugz in the Attic)

To Serve with Love is released 1st March 2008 through OM: HIP HOP/STOMP

SUPREME BEINGS HYPNOTISE

Supreme Beings of LeisureSupreme Beings of Leisure make a long-awaited return with their third album, 11i.  Their first release in five years, 11i is a cinematic collection of eleven enchanting, hypnotizing tracks. The album is a song cycle about daily life that begins with the sumptuous prelude of “The Light” and seamlessly evolves into the concluding drifting-into-dreams track, “Lay Me Down.”  In between are standouts including the wistful and melodic “This World” and “Angelhead" (featuring Lili Haydn).

The Californian two-piece formed in 1996, and during that time they have garnered favourable coverage in magazines such as Rolling Stone, Details, Interview, Elle, Wired, Billboard, Keyboard, Seventeen and the New York Times. Their tracks have graced numerous films (Sweetest Thing, Igby Goes Down, Hamlet); television shows (Alias, Dawsons Creek, Third Watch, CSI: Miami); national and international ad campaigns (JC Penney, Breil Watch, Lancia Lybra).

11i is Supreme Beings of Leisure's most resonant release to date; an enticing blend of sultry electro-lounge beats and downtempo electronica that highlights their trademark sophisticated songcraft.

Released 11th February 2008. For a full tracklisting and a sneaky listen check it out HERE.
