STOMP TO RELEASE BASEBALL DEBUT ALBUM!
Stomp Entertainment are pleased to announce that they have signed a deal with Melbourne band Baseball to release their long awaited debut album "Animal Kingdom". The album is set for release February 2008, with the first single " Soft Boy Factory" hitting radio in November this year. Animal Kingdom was recorded on 2 inch tape at Head Gap Studios (My Disco, Ninetynine, Magic Dirt, The Slits, etc) in Melbourne and has been mastered by John Golden (Sonic Youth, Chris Isaak, etc) in California. Formed in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2002 - Baseball is the project of Thick Passage (Ninetynine, ex-Sandro) who fronts the band on vocals and rhythm violin, joined by Monika Fikerle (Love of Diagrams) on bass. The duo then acquired the services of Evelyn Morris (Pikelet, True Radical Miracle) on drums and vocals, and Ben Butcher (The Assassination Collective) to play guitar. They have been performing with this line-up since the beginning of 2005. Baseball have toured 18 countries in the last two years, which has seen them share the stage with the likes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (US), Vincent Gallo (US), Auf Der Maur (Canada) and Boom Boom Satellites (Japan) at the Hohaiyan Rock Festival in Taipei. They've also played along side No Means No in the Czech Republic. In Australia the band has played shows with Saul Williams (USA), Sleater Kinney (USA), Les Savy Fav (USA) Ni Hao (Japan), Ryokuchi (Jap), Birushanah (Jap), Sabot (Czech Rep) and The Hold Steady (USA). "Easily my new favoritest band" Jon Chapple, Mclusky, Shooting At Unarmed Men ''Baseball are the quintessential Melbourne band circa 2007, fusing urgent punk with hypnotic Eastern European violins into a unique sound. Like the Cramps being shoved in a blender with the Dirty Three, their shows are manic and messy but not to be missed!” Patrick Donovan, The Age Music Writer "Relentless rhythm that is impossible to stand still to. The violin conjures certain presumptions about the musical style of a band but Baseball blow these presumptions out of the water." Sarah Delfante, Drum Media Perth Posted: Wednesday, 24 October 2007 |
